For nearly 20 years, George School in Pennsylvania has been teaching Fatal Light. It’s astounding that they’ve brought this title to a generation of students, and one of the central reasons that convinced me to bring it back into print. All these years later, the demand for Fatal Light continues.
When working on the re-release, we asked George School about their teaching methods, and whether or not they’d be willing to share their study guide. What resulted was one of the most thorough and enjoyable study guides I’ve ever seen, courtesy of Kim McGlynn.
Over the last two decades, George School has delved deep into Fatal Light and accurately captured that fine layer that every great writer puts into their work. I found myself paging through the study guide and realizing things that I had only been dimly aware of, or missed entirely. It’s the perfect companion to Fatal Light, and should be required reading for every fan – not just educators and students.
It’s available for free right here. And if you are interested in teaching Fatal Light, that page also provides information on desk copies and educator discounts.
And I’ll take this opportunity to thank Kim McGlynn, again, for authoring this guide, as well as Stephanie McBride, head of George School’s English Department, for supporting Richard’s work for so long. Without the two of them, Fatal Light may still be languishing out of print.
